A Dynamic Equivalent of Active Distribution Network: Derivation, Update, Validation and Use Cases

This paper deals with the derivation of dynamic equivalents active distribution networks, hosting inverter-based generators as well static and motor loads. Equivalents are reduced-order models for use in simulations transmission system. They grey-box types their parameters identified from large-disturbance Monte-Carlo accounting model uncertainty. After presenting an overview identification method at a single operating point, update equivalent when conditions network change. A procedure identifies to update, hence avoiding complete new identification. Besides illustrative examples, two sets simulation results reported. First, accuracy is validated long-term voltage instability scenario. Second, larger-scale application presented, numerous instances attached IEEE Nordic test combined used assess impact on short- stability fast slow controls.
